Print it once.
Update it anytime.
Make static QR codes and barcodes free, with no account and no watermark. Or make a dynamic code: the printed pattern never changes while you repoint it and count the scans. Or make a digital business card, pet ID or vehicle ID — a page you keep current behind a tag you print once.
- No account needed for static codes
- PNG & SVG exports—no watermark

The guides explain what these specifications ask for, and where it matters in practice.
QR code and barcode FAQs
Quick answers about creating, scanning and printing codes
Is ScanMe Online free to use?
Yes. Creating, customizing and downloading QR codes and barcodes is free, with no watermark and no sign-up required, and the online scanner is free as well. A free account adds 3 dynamic QR codes, 1,500 tracked scans a month and one Smart ID — a digital business card, pet ID or vehicle ID. Paid plans start at $6.99 a month: Pro raises that to 50 dynamic codes and 3 Smart IDs, and Business to 300 and 10, with bigger scan allowances on both. You can try Pro for 14 days without entering a card, and you only ever enter payment details when you deliberately buy something.
Do I need to create an account?
No, not for most features. QR code generation, customization, downloads, barcode generation and scanning all work without an account. You only need to sign in for dynamic QR codes, whose destination you can change after printing, because those are stored with your workspace so you can edit them and see their scan statistics later.
What information can I put inside a QR code?
ScanMe Online supports 28 content types: website URLs, plain text, Wi-Fi credentials, contact cards (vCard), phone numbers, email, SMS, WhatsApp, restaurant menus, payments, reviews, coupons, tickets, app downloads, PDFs, social media profiles, FaceTime, Zoom, locations, events, calendars, music, crypto addresses, pet ID tags, lost-and-found labels, vehicle info, insurance details and pharmacy info. Each type has its own form that produces correctly formatted content.
What is the difference between a static and dynamic QR code?
A static QR code encodes your content directly in the pattern, so it works forever but can never be edited. A dynamic QR code instead encodes a short ScanMe link (scanmeonline.com/r/…) that redirects to your destination — so you can change where it points at any time, even after printing, and see how often it is scanned, from which countries and on which devices. Static codes need no account; dynamic codes require a free account.
Do static QR codes expire?
No. A static QR code has no built-in expiration because its content is encoded directly into the image, so there is no server involved and nothing that can be switched off. It keeps working as long as the printed or digital code remains scannable and the content itself remains valid (for a URL, as long as that page stays online). ScanMe Online places no time limits or scan limits on static codes.
What is the difference between a barcode and a QR code?
A traditional barcode is one-dimensional: vertical lines encoding a short string of digits or characters, read horizontally, typically holding under 50 characters. A QR code is two-dimensional, holding far more data (URLs, contact cards, Wi-Fi credentials) with error correction and any-angle scanning. Barcodes remain the standard for retail checkout and logistics; QR codes are better for connecting people to digital content.
Can I scan a QR code online without installing an app?
Yes. The ScanMe Online scanner runs in your browser at /scan, with nothing to install. It works two ways: live camera scanning, or decoding an image you upload or drag in (a photo, screenshot or saved file). It reads QR codes and common one-dimensional barcodes such as Code 128, EAN, UPC and Code 39. Everything is decoded locally in your browser.
Does ScanMe Online store or see the content of my QR codes?
For static codes: no. Generation happens in your browser: the content is encoded to an image locally and is not sent to Androrangers servers. Your recent codes live only in your own browser’s history. For dynamic codes the destination URL is necessarily stored on our servers (that is what makes it editable), along with your saved design. Smart IDs make that trade on purpose: a digital business card, pet ID or vehicle ID is a profile saved on our servers, because the reason to print one is that you can change what it says afterwards and whoever scans the tag sees the current version rather than the version you printed. You decide which fields each profile shows to a stranger, and you can delete a profile at any time. The scanner likewise decodes locally and uploads nothing.
About ScanMe Online
ScanMe Online is made by Androrangers Technologies LLC, a software company in New Jersey, which also builds the ScanMe QR Code Scanner for Android. The two are companions rather than copies: the app is for scanning on the move, including offline, and the site is for making codes on a bigger screen and downloading them at print resolution.
Static codes are drawn in your browser and never reach our servers, which is why the generator asks for no account and leaves no watermark. More about who we are and what we charge for →
