How it works

Why not just print your number on a card?
Because a number on a dashboard is legible to everyone who walks past the car, all day, for as long as the card is there, and it stays legible long after the reason for it has passed. A vehicle ID inverts that: the passerby gets a way to reach you, and you get to decide, later and repeatedly, how much of yourself they see. The free windshield generator does the opposite trade, and is the right tool when you want something offline and permanent.

Only if you decide to show it. A vehicle ID is private by default: the page shows what you called the vehicle and enough to recognize it, then offers a short form instead of any contact details. Someone picks a reason, optionally adds a line, and sends, and it reaches you by email and in your dashboard without them ever seeing your number.
No, and there is no field that could. We store the make, model and color, which is enough for somebody standing next to the car. A license plate links to keeper records, and a public page carrying one next to a note saying you are away is a different thing entirely.
You can replace the tag from your dashboard. That permanently kills the printed code and issues a new one, without deleting anything on your vehicle ID. You do have to print and fit the replacement, which is why it sits behind a confirmation.
Every report names a reason before it names anything else, so the useful ones are obvious at a glance, and you can mute a vehicle if a sticker starts attracting attention you do not want. The form is deliberately short. There is very little for somebody to abuse.
Inside the glass on the passenger side, high enough to read from outside without obstructing your view, and clear of the wiper sweep and any tinted band. Print it larger than you would for a card in the hand: glass, reflections and low light all work against a scan.
