Accounts and scan analytics
An account exists for the things that need a server: codes you can repoint, and the scan counts behind them. These answers cover both, including the specific fields a scan records and the ones it deliberately does not.

How do I create a ScanMe Online account?
Click Sign in and either continue with Google or register with your email address and a password (minimum 6 characters). Email registrations receive a verification email automatically; click the link in it to verify, which unlocks creating dynamic QR codes. Accounts are free.
What requires an account, and what works without one?
Without an account you get the whole static toolkit: the QR generator with every customization option, the barcode generator, the scanner, unlimited downloads and your local history. An account adds the things that have to live on a server — dynamic QR codes whose destination you can change after printing, their scan analytics, and Smart IDs (a digital business card, pet ID or vehicle ID). Anything held in your account follows you to any browser you sign in from, saved design included. What does not follow you is the local history of static codes and their saved designs: those have never left the browser they were made in, and there is no cross-device sync for them today.
What if I forget my password?
Use the "Forgot password" option in the sign-in dialog. Enter your email address and, if an account exists for it, a reset email arrives with a link to choose a new password. If you originally signed up with Google, there is no ScanMe password; just continue with Google.
Can I change my display name, email or password?
You can change your display name on the Account page. Your email address is fixed to the account (it is how your identity and verification work) and cannot currently be changed from the site. Password changes are handled through the password-reset email flow. Request a reset from the sign-in dialog and set a new one.
Can I use my account on multiple devices?
Yes — sign in from any browser on any device and your dynamic QR codes and their analytics are there, because they are stored with your account. Local browser history of static codes does not transfer between devices (it never leaves each browser). The Account page also has a "Sign out all devices" button that ends every session everywhere, useful if you signed in on a shared computer.
How do I delete my account?
Contact us to delete your account: email apps.admin@androrangers.com or use the contact form, from the email address on the account. There is no self-service deletion button on the site yet. Deleting the account removes your access to your workspace; note that archived dynamic short links are never reassigned to anyone else even after deletion, so a code you printed can never be taken over.
Analytics & Tracking
Can I track QR code scans?
Yes, for dynamic QR codes. Every dynamic code has an analytics page showing total scans, unique scans, scans today, a scans-over-time chart (daily, or hourly for short ranges), and breakdowns by country, device type (mobile, tablet, desktop) and browser. Static QR codes cannot be tracked. They never touch a server, which is precisely what makes them fully private.
Can static QR codes be tracked?
No. A static code contains your content directly, so scanning it is a private interaction between the phone and the destination — no ScanMe server is involved and there is nothing to count. If you need scan statistics, use a dynamic code, or encode a URL that carries your own analytics parameters (such as UTM tags read by your website analytics).
What information is collected when someone scans my dynamic QR code?
The scan time, the country (derived from network region at country level only — never precise location), the device type and browser family from the user-agent, and an anonymous visitor identifier used to estimate unique scans. That identifier is a one-way cryptographic hash that changes every day, and the visitor’s raw IP address is never stored. Known bots and link-preview crawlers are filtered out of your statistics.
What is the difference between total and unique scans?
Total scans counts every scan event. Unique scans estimates how many distinct visitors scanned, using an anonymous daily-rotating identifier, so the same person scanning three times in one day counts as three total scans but one unique scan. Because the identifier resets daily for privacy, the same person returning on different days counts as a new unique visitor each day.
How accurate is the location information?
Country-level only, by design. The country comes from the scanning device’s network region as seen by our infrastructure. No city, street or GPS data is collected. Scanners never share precise location with a QR redirect, and we do not attempt to infer it. Expect the usual small inaccuracies from VPNs and mobile carrier routing.
How quickly do scans appear in analytics, and can I export them?
Scans are recorded as they happen and appear when you refresh the analytics page, typically within seconds. There is currently no CSV/PDF export and no way to reset a code’s statistics; the dashboard with its date-range views (up to a year) is the way to read your data today.
